I love Cumberland State Forest, especially after rains. The water soaked trees, the fragrance of drenched soil and the cheerful birdsong made for a perfect day out at this beautiful little gem in the center of Hills District. There are quite a few entrances to the forest. The entrance off Oratava Avenue had its gates closed so if you want to reach the nice cafe by car inside the forest, then make sure you enter off the Cumberland Forest Way. I am sure Google won’t be wrong 😉 What do you think this bird is? Crimson Rosella or Red Parrot? Some...
CONTINUE READINGWhat more can you want, a gorgeous spring day, picnic with great friends and a red kayak. This time its the Brisbane water up the coast from Sydney. This was the launch point to be precise. There is only parking available for a couple of cars and I was fortunate that someone was leaving. If you are planning to bring a Kayak, then hopefully its on wheels as its 5 mins walk from roadside parking. And the place was beaming with birds. 10 min paddle from the shore was this Pelican Breeding Reserve. Hundreds of Pelicans and their little...
CONTINUE READINGLet me start off by saying that I finally got the right gear to mount my 30Kg kayak. What you see below is a Rhino-Rack Nautic 580 roof rack that basically saved me 30 mins of hardcore effort that my wife and I had to put in last weekend. Relatively easy to use. So with the new roof rack on the car,...

Its been more than 3 years dreaming about having a Kayak and I have had enough of waiting :I made a quick calculation in my head. Sun would set at around 5:30. It was already 2’o clock. If we pack a quick picnic, get kids from School at 3, make a quick dash to the Boat Ramp near Windsor, unpack and be on the water by 4, I will have about an hour to enjoy this red beauty. And that was enough (at least better...

The loose plan right now is to go after big lakes, rivers and lagoons. Places that mark the amazing landscape of this beautiful country. Why do it? Because I can (Thanks Jess for giving a reason :)) I was not raised up near water. Infact the first beach I saw was when I travelled to Mumbai at the age of 21. Can you believe...
